StarTech.com 2 Port SATA 6 Gbps PCI Express SATA Controller Card (PEXSAT32) Reviews
I bought this card hoping to get the most juice out of my SATA 3 SSD. Performance wise, it turned out to be worse than my motherboard's native SATA 2 controller. With this product, I got a mere 5.9 score from the Windows Experience Index test. Then I connected the SSD directly to the motherboard, re-ran the test and got a 7.8. Later I learned that the bottleneck is the card's PCIe 1x interface. Also, the card does not support the TRIM feature that prevents the SSDs performance to degrade as it gets fuller. And the documentation states that the card is natively supported by Windows 7 which is incorrect. You have to install the drivers. Luckily, Vista drivers are in the accompanying cd and are supported by Windows 7 so I got them installed. This card might work well with SATA 3 HDs but don't bother buying it for your SSD.

I bought this because I had a sata 2 motherboard and it would not support the high speeds of a new sata 3 SSD. I dropped this in and it doesnt tell you that if it is a sata 2 board your bus will not perform at sata 3 speeds. Also when I returned this device it took me 2 months to get a refund from Onsale the seller. I actually had to open a claim with Amazon who firmly laid the smackdown and got me my money the next day. Stay clear of Onsale. Thank you Amazon for your great support.
